Speaking at the Chennai edition of the ET Make in India – MSME Regional Summit, Pachuau – who is also Executive Director of Facilitating MSMEs of Tamil Nadu (FaMe TN), an autonomous agency of the state government – said the government is creating an industrial database to gain a comprehensive understanding of the MSMEs in the state to inform policymaking decisions and ensure effective identification of beneficiaries of various schemes and initiatives. For this comprehensive database, field personnel are being deployed to conduct door-to-door surveys to verify MSME details, while data from various sources, such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and GST filings, are being collated, Pachuau said.
The government has also launched the Tamil Nadu credit guarantee scheme to address the challenge MSMEs face in getting access to formal credit, Pachuau said during her keynote address. It is also providing collateral-free loans with enhanced coverage for MSMEs and is in the process of developing a credit score system to assess MSMEs’ creditworthiness, she added.
